The merry festive spirit will be on full display in Mount Isa when Council brings its free 2020 Christmas Carols to the community next month.

The event will be held from 6pm on Friday, December 4, at the Buchanan Park Arena. It will be a ticketed, socially distanced event with stadium seating.

The program will include much-loved Christmas carols and songs, family-friendly entertainment, local performers and a variety of food and market stalls.

There will be performances from the Crackup Sisters from Winton, and David Kidd (formerly of Australian ensemble the Ten Tenors), as well as local acts the Rolling Tones, Kate Hartley, David Whitehead, Lenita Woodsbey, Khovy Inthavong, the Mount Isa School of Dance, and local puppeteer Louis Johnson.

The Crackup Sisters Christmas Show will take the audience on an interactive ride through a country comedy experience of the two energetic sisters, S.T.Ruth and Rowdy, looking for their Christmas presents.

The fun, fast-paced show will include choreographed stock whip cracking, hula hooping, comedy acrobatics, aerial circus antics and a kelpie dog appearance, with a colourful, Australian Outback Christmas story to warm the heart.

David Kidd toured with Australian ensemble The Ten Tenors from 1998 to 2007, performing around the country as well as around the world, including in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the UK and the USA.

He has recorded on albums totalling more than 1.3 million in sales worldwide, including Tenology (2004), Here’s to the Heroes (2006) and Nostalgica (2008).

Council is currently accepting expressions of interest for community market or food stalls to take part in the event. Interested stallholders are urged to register online as soon as possible at www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/event-information-and-forms
