New System Helps Self-Manage Your Rate Payments

Published: 19th July 2024

Mount Isa City Council has invested in an online solution to allow customers the ability to self-manage their rate payments.

The Flexible Payment Optimisation System includes options to allow customers to set up recurring payments via direct debit or credit card.

It provides customers the flexibility of setting some parameters around what are suitable and acceptable recurring payment amounts. It covers payment options for both bill smoothing purposes and accepting payment plans from those customers with overdue debts.

The service integrates with Council’s rating system, so it can extract up-to-date balances as well as alert Council staff when a customer is paying their account by this service.

The Flexible Payment Optimisation System capabilities include:

  • Provide a flexible online payment solution which allows customers to self-manage their rate account by choosing a frequency suitable to them;
  • Allow customers with overdue accounts to propose and set up payment plans via direct debit or credit card;
  • SMS reminders are sent a few days prior to the due date to advise a customer a deduction is due;
  • The service provides an audit of all activity on the customers account;
  • The service integrates with Councils Rating system to extract up to date balances of accounts;
  • If a payment is rejected or the balance of a customers account changes, the service can automatically smooth this missed payment over all future deductions.
