Theme of the Year - Recycling Hubs
Mount Isa City Council is pleased to announce that the Environmental Grants Program (EGP) opened on the 22nd of October 2024 and will close on the 22nd of November 2024.
Beginning this year, we are Introducing "Theme of the Year" in Mount Isa's Environmental Grant Program.
- This innovative framework directs efforts towards eco-friendly solutions for organic waste challenges.
- 75% of the program's budget is dedicated to projects aligning with our theme, ensuring targeted impact and fostering sustainability!
Choose the Theme of the Year Project - "Recycling Hubs" and receive project essentials valued up to $5,000 from the Council!
OR
Receive funding of up to $5,000 per grant to support environmental and sustainable projects in Mount Isa and Camooweal communities.
The EGP seeks to support proposals focusing on:
- Environmental enhancement: Revegetation, habitat improvement, landcare and bushcare initiatives.
- Environmental initiatives/sustainable ideas: Community gardens, worm farm, recycling system, composting systems.
- Environmental management/conservation: Flora & fauna protection, native fish restocking, riverine area improvements.
- Environmental education/community capacity building: Workshops, networking events, training and skill development, establishment of environmental groups, development of capacity-building material, development of strategic plans, land management for community groups.
Local community groups, schools and organisations interested in acquiring a set of recycling bins or those with eligible projects that show positive impacts on the environment and quality of life within the Mount Isa local government area are encouraged to seek funding support.
