Animal Management Facility
About Us
The Mount Isa City Council Animal Management Team helps reunite lost animals with their owners or find new homes for animals that have been surrendered.
If your animal goes missing or you find an animal, please contact Council on 07 4747 3200 between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. For after-hours emergencies, please call also call 07 4747 3200.
All animals entering the Animal Management Facility are scanned for a microchip. If the owner is unable to be contacted, a photo of their pet will be posted on the Facility's Facebook page.
The Animal Management Facility is closed on weekends except for the impounding of stray animals.
There are two holding pens at the front of the complex for placing stray dogs in. The cat pen is located behind these pens.
When dropping off a wandering animal, please fill out the Public Impound Form provided, with the details of where the animal came from.
When surrendering an animal, please fill out the Animal Surrender Form provided with as much detail as possible.
To make an appointment to have your animal released contact the Animal Management team on 4747 3200.
To ensure surrendered animals can be identified, it is important your animal is wearing a collar and tag and is microchipped.
If your animal is microchipped, please provide the details to Mount Isa City Council Customer Service so it can be recorded with your registration details.
