Social Media Guidelines
Thank you for connecting with Mount Isa City Council through our online community. Our social media platforms are places where Council updates the community on Council's activities, initiatives, and projects, what's happening in the Mount Isa community, and issues media statements.
Please contact Mount Isa City Council by phone ((07) 4747 3200 - 24 hours), email, or in writing if you:
- Would like to change your address;
- Pay a bill;
- Make an official complaint; or
- Report a problem or request for service.
We want to keep our online community a safe and positive space for local residents to connect, so any offensive language, naming, shaming, trolling, or bullying will not be tolerated.
In order to ensure Council's Facebook page is friendly and welcoming for all visitors, we ask that you:
- Be respectful of others and their opinions.
- Do not harass, abuse or threaten other visitors to the site.
- Do not post comments that are likely to offend others, particularly in reference to an individual’s race, age, gender, sexuality, political leaning, religion or disability.
- Do not use obscene or offensive language.
- Do not post defamatory comments.
- Do not post repeat comments continuously.
- Do not repeatedly post information which is factually inaccurate and may mislead others.
- Do not promote anything that may constitute spam, such as commercial interests, solicitations, advertisements or endorsements of any non-governmental agency.
- Do not reveal any personal or sensitive information about others on this page, including naming council officers.
- Protect your personal privacy by not including email addresses, phone numbers or home addresses in public posts or comments.
Any posts or comments that violate these terms will be deleted. Any person who repeatedly violates these guidelines will be banned from the Mount Isa City Council Facebook page.
We support the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and related Facebook policies, and we request our visitors do the same.
By commenting on Council's Facebook page, you are indicating that you have read, understand and agree to adhere to the above rules.
If you are banned from the page, you may appeal the ban by providing a written letter to Council acknowledging that you previously failed to adhere to the Mount Isa City Council Facebook rules, and further agree to adhere to the rules of the page in future.
If the appeal is successful, you will be reinstated as a follower of the Mount Isa City Council Facebook page within 30 days of Council receiving the letter.
If a second ban is imposed following a breach, the ban will be permanent.
