Physical resources
The Local Studies Collection in Mount Isa City Library includes microfilmed local newspapers from 1930-2020, printed materials about Mount Isa, photos, videos, oral history interviews, local authors' publications, and objects.
The physical items are located in the Historical Room, which can be accessed through booking. Bookings can be made via phone call or email.

An extensive resource for family history researchers. It's emphasis is to provide quality images of all inscriptions in each cemetery rather than just transcript lists.

Queensland Birth Death Marriage Register
The register holds records of life events (births, deaths and marriages) that took place in Queensland between 1829 and present day. Historical records are:
- births that took place more than 100 years ago
- marriages that took place more than 75 years ago
- deaths that occurred more than 30 years ago.

The Ryerson Index
The Ryerson Index is a free index to death notices appearing in Australian newspapers. The date range covered extends from theSydney Gazetteof 1803 up to newspapers published within the last week or so. The Index also includes many funeral notices, and some probate notices and obituaries.

The Queensland Heritage Register is a list of places that have cultural heritage significance to the people of Queensland.
Places in the register fall into two categories:
- State Heritage Place—These places are significant as they contributeto our understanding of the wider pattern and evolution of Queensland’s history and heritage.
- Protected Areas—Have strong heritage values that are vulnerable and under threat.
